Have you noticed with the warmer weather a change in your skin and maybe that is it is more dry and cracked compared to just few weeks ago?  Maybe you are more thirsty as well?

Every summer we struggle with the balance of heat and proper hydration in our hot Okanagan location.

It’s only April and we are already starting to see the needs for more hydration.

What all can you do?

Eating foods high in water such as fruits, celery, tomatoes, melons, lettuce, cucumber, zucchini, bell pepper, cauliflower, cabbage, and of course watermelon, you get the idea.  Can you believe all of those foods are more than 90% water?  Awesome!

Also, making sure you drink enough water, for most of us, it is about 2 litres.  If you want to calculate your more specific amount, using your weight in pounds, and divide that by 2, to get your target daily water intake in ounces. Add more if you are outside in the heat or doing exercise.

Say a 150 pound person would look for 75 ounces which calculates to be 2.1 litres.

Also consuming natural fats is a sure fire way to help your skin to retain moisture.  Omega 3 and omega 6 fats can only be added to your body by consuming, your body does not make those fats.  So consuming fish, nuts, eggs, olives, and avocados is a great step to donating oils for building healthy cell membranes.

Enjoy your water, produce, and omega 3 and 6 fats and see your skin return back to its soft and healthy state within a short period of time!  Enjoy!

Have a great week,

Lisa.
