In the world of food, nutrition and health, I have many areas that I have a huge interest in.  Most of those areas, I have studied, read books as well as case studies, gone to conferences, and found personally and professionally how certain changes can help certain people in certain circumstances.

Health and how we feel, it is really quite fascinating.  However, it can also be overwhelming and frustrating when you feel like you’ve done everything and still don’t feel like challenges have resolved.

So what a nutritionist does is looks at symptoms and what different areas could be involved with those symptoms as a group, and see if there are any excesses or deficiencies to address and give some details that is relatable to the function of the biggest affected areas.  To most people, this is likely helpful.  But, as with everything, one size does not always fit all.  Sometimes the reason for an issue is simple, but sometimes it is layered and has a few different aspects.

How does one work through the layers?  Focus on the biggest issue and tackle that first.  When you change one thing, it can affect everything, like a cog in a wheel.  What if one change made everything work better.  It can happen, I have seen it many times.

Two key sure fire changes that you can do today and that will pay off are:

1.) Make yourself a priority and take care of yourself as you would a friend

2.) Eat more plant based foods

Eating more plants does not mean you need to go vegetarian or vegan, or even paleo, as those ways of eating may not be for everyone, but pretty much everyone could use an increase in plant based foods.

These are actually fairly easy changes to make and the benefits of those changes could likely be spectacular.

In additional to those general suggestions, I’m planning for the next few months to focus this weekly blog to touch on main health problems that are far too common in our communities and in our own families.  Health concerns such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes/blood sugar, inflammation, autoimmune diseases, autism, ADHD, chronic pain, Alzheimer's, depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, thyroid, and the many faces of digestive issues with constipation, diarrhoea, SIBO, gas, bloating, acid reflux and such.

Stay tuned!

Have a great week,

Lisa
