Do you have spring allergies starting?  I noticed this weekend while being outside that many people were starting to suffer from the common signs of spring allergies.  One way to help lessen those reactions is to increase eating foods that are naturally high in quercetin.

What is quercetin and where can I find it??

Quercetin is a flavonoid found in a variety of fruits, vegetables and grains.  Some foods with a good amount of quercetin include onions, buckwheat, apples, berries, kale, broccoli, tomatoes, asparagus, and tea.  Flavonoids are what gives our foods exciting colours and anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.  This is why many colours in our foods can create many health benefits.

Why does quercetin help spring allergies?  Some people release histamines as a reaction to pollen and other allergens which cause a stuffy or runny nose and watery itchy eyes or even hives.  Quercetin is a natural anti-histamine and since these foods contain other great health benefits, they can also be supportive for areas like digestion because of their fibre content as well as immune and lessen pain due to anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.  Enjoy these foods more often and see if you can feel relief from allergies or inflammation.
