2 cups milk (or any plant-based milk of your choice)
1-inch piece of fresh turmeric, peeled and grated
1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or agave nectar (adjust to taste)
In a saucepan, heat milk over medium heat. Bring it to a simmer without boiling.
Stir in the turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom, and coconut oil.
Add maple syrup or agave nectar. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste.
Allow the mixture to simmer for about 5-10 minutes, ensuring the flavours blend well.
Remove from the heat and pour the golden milk through a fine mesh strainer into 2 mugs. Serve hot.
