Crisp-tender asparagus wrapped in savoury, golden bacon makes for an easy, crowd-pleasing dish. Lightly seasoned and roasted until perfectly caramelized, delivering big flavour with minimal effort.
1 bunch asparagus (about 1 lb), woody ends trimmed
8–10 slices bacon (regular cut works best)
1–2 tbsp olive oil
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp black pepper
Optional: pinch of chili flakes or drizzle of maple syrup
Optional garnish: fresh parsley, finely chopped
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Rinse and dry the asparagus, then trim off the tough ends. Divide into small bundles of 3–4 spears each.
Lightly toss the asparagus bundles with olive oil, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Wrap one slice of bacon around each bundle, starting at the base and spiralling up toward the tips. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
Arrange bundles with a bit of space between them so the bacon crisps evenly.
Roast for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bacon is golden and crispy and the asparagus is tender.
Optional: For extra caramelization, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end—keep a close eye so it doesn’t burn.
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Add a light drizzle of maple syrup or a squeeze of lemon if you want a flavour boost.
